Being a company with a vision of making learning through board games possible and facilitating better understanding of complex systems we’re always looking for ways to grow and improve. That’s why a few weeks ago, we invited you, our community, to fill in a survey sent out through our newsletter. Our goal was to better understand how players perceive the learning value of Hegemony.
To all of you who took the time to respond and provide us with your feedback: thank you! Your responses were insightful, honest, and incredibly useful to us. They helped confirm what we’ve long believed that Hegemony is not just a game, but a tool for thinking critically about the world around us.
So, what did we learn?
Deeper Understanding of Political & Economic Systems
Many players shared that Hegemony made learning political and economic concepts in the real world more feasible and enjoyable. Through strategic gameplay, they were able to explore trade-offs, ideological conflicts, and policy decisions in an educative yet engaging way.
Important Findings:
- 79.1% of players pointed that Hegemony enhanced their understanding of political ideologies and economic systems.
- When asked about the most educational aspect of the game, 62.1% highlighted Economic Concepts, followed by Political and Ideological concepts, among others.
- 77.6% of players agreed that the depth and accuracy of the educational content in Hegemony was impressive.
- 75.4% found Hegemony to be an excellent tool for teaching political and economic concepts to others.
Examples of Impact:
We also received some great examples of how Hegemony has helped players better understand political and economic systems on a deeper level. From working through the complexities of trade policies to class struggles and economy, it’s clear that you receive the learning experience we wanted to provide. Many players indicated that Hegemony is not just a game, but a framework that sparks intellectual debate and discussion about government, policy, and society.
What Did We Take Away?
The survey showed us that our community doesn’t just see Hegemony only as a game, but at the same time as a teaching tool. We are so glad that it’s getting gamers all over the world to delve into difficult topics, generate discussion, and even educate others in an entertaining and easy manner. This strengthens our vision that games can both be intellectually challenging and deeply effective. The feedback also showed a keen desire for more educational content to extend and expand this learning.
What’s Next?
We’ve heard your feedback loud and clear, and we understand that you’re hungry for yet more educational resources. We’re committed to continuing to provide more content, articles, and resources to explore the academic concepts that inspired Hegemony.
And this is only the beginning. The same vision that motivated Hegemony continues with our next title, World Order that analyses the complexity of International Relations and the power dynamics among world’s greatest powers. We can’t wait to tell you more about it and to hear from you once it’s in the world.
Once again, thank you to all who participated. Your input is helping us create games that matter, that not only entertain but also educate and inspire. We’re looking forward to continuing on this path with you.
Best,
Hegemonic Project Games
